Before you commit
Choose with care勝 is a verb first. Alone it reads as beats or wins rather than as victory, and it turns up in unrelated senses - 名勝 a scenic spot, 不勝 unable to bear.
Japanese勝 is extremely common in Japanese, as the verb katsu and in given names, so it does not read as specifically Chinese.
