Choose with care犀 alone is more likely to be read as sharp or incisive than as the animal, because 犀利 is the common word. If you mean the rhino, write 犀牛.

Cultural note心有靈犀 comes from Li Shangyin and describes unspoken understanding between two people. It is one of the most quoted lines in Chinese, and the reason this character carries romance.
