Choose with care革 alone does not mean revolution. Its everyday meaning is leather, and 皮革 is the word on a shoe label - not the association you want.
At small sizesTwo characters of moderate weight, nine strokes and eight. Both hold up small; 革 needs its horizontal strokes evenly spaced.
Cultural note革命 is heavily political in Chinese. Mainland readers will connect it to twentieth-century history immediately, and the Cultural Revolution is part of that association.
