Choose with care癡 also means foolish or slow-witted, and 白癡 is an insult. Alone it is not a compliment, and readers may take the unkind sense first.
At small sizes癡 is nineteen strokes under a sickness radical, dense and slightly bleak in appearance. It does not reduce well, so give it size.
Cultural note情癡, the one who is foolish about love, is a recognised romantic type in Chinese fiction — devoted, doomed and gently mocked. 癡 carries that flavour.
