Two versions of the same picture, and both are free with no account and no watermark. The first has no background at all, which is the one to send your artist — but a phone or computer photo viewer set to dark will show black strokes on dark grey and it can look like nothing downloaded. If that happens, use the second one: identical characters on a plain white background. Choose with care獨 by itself reads as alone or lonely more than as independent, and it sits inside 孤獨, lonely. Alone it is a bleaker word than most people intend.
JapaneseJapan writes it 独. The traditional 獨 is visibly Chinese.
Pairs well with獨立 is the safe choice. 自立, to support oneself, is warmer and equally natural.
